![]() I know a lot of people say that it is not stable with win7, but I don't really want to run a dual boot and put on my old winxp too, but from what I have been seeing, there are lots of people having the same issue. I also tried installing the server as a windows service, so that it starts each boot up, no change. ![]() I had already tried that one, thanks all the same. Your files should be showing up and the error gone. Settings -> Network Settings -> Media Server Connection. Just restart the ‘service’, as it were, on the PS3. I'm being forced to watch a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film tonight so I have time to hunt around for a possible answer. ![]() I know you maay say just use Tversity, but I understand that PMS will stream much better. So why the hell can't the PMS programme do its thing? I may not have needed to set IP and Port holes for the PMS after looking at Tversity and how it just works. Click on on the video clip, and away it goes playing an mp4 file, fast forwards, full surround etc. Started the server up, advice appears that device is connected, look at my PS3 and can see the blue ICON of Tversity, and when selected, my video folder appears. Without even having to poke any holes to allow the programme access IP or Port, I set it to have access to a folder in one drive with a video file. I finally thought, why not try Tversity, it is Media Server software, with less ability than PMS, but guess what. No, after a week of trying, and getting a headache trying to see what simple thing I am missing. I get the same result from Admin on PC as well as a limited acount that I set up called PMS (with admin rights to PMS and Java, otherwise the limited account cannot see the PS3). So he thought it must be Win 7 not wanting to share folders. Full share allowed and same happens, the PC and PS3 see each other, but when I try to see content from XMB, I get no tiltles and error.Īlso just installed the latest PS3 update (which came up as available yesterday while I was messing with IP and ports), still no change.Ĭalled my local PC shop where I purchased all the bits to build my gaming PC, and one of the techs did spend some time on the phone, but said he knew nothing about PS3 as a media server/ player. I have tried moving the PS3 into the study and linking to my router with a direct patch cable in cat6 and cat5e, also connected the PS3 to my second gigabit NIC connection on the mobo. I am even dreaming about what I need to do to fix this. Over the last week, I have spent many hours, prior to being told to get off the PC and go to bed (get up for work at 4am each day). Click on the device and straight away I get text of No Titles and in the top right an error message saying: Installed PMS on the Win 7 box, poked holes in my Billion 7404VGP router to enable IP and mac address of PS3, allowed sharing of drives I store the video files on, started up the PC and PS3 and after a couple of attempts (start stop) the PMS programme said it could see the PS3, went to the XMB on PS3 and there was MARK (PC) as media server, and selectable. Well, have connected my PS3 via a cat6 connection to my study where I have an i7 860 box with 4GB ram, 4 TB of storage. Looking around on the net, it appears to me that Play Station Media Server (PMS) freeware software is by far the most flexible and easy to use. I have not used my PS3 (250gb with play TV bundle blah blah) as a media stream device till now. I have searched here, not seen anyone alse having the problem I am having running Play Station Media server from a Windows 7 box to PS3.
